Spare Skin is the name under which Christoffer Steensen Møller from Denmark writes and performs his music. Ever since 2007, when a friend enthusiastically forced ear buds playing “King's Crossing” into his ears, Elliott Smith has been Christoffer’s foremost inspiration – the sublime combination of vulnerability and sense of melody in Elliott’s song writing, is what Christoffer strives for in his own music. What has followed, is an output of songs spanning genres from folk-rock in English, sparse acoustic songs in his Danish mother tongue and also a project with an ambient approach to the electric guitar and its role in folk music.
On “Half Right”, Christoffer has chosen a deliberate move away from both the Heatmiser and Elliott Smith versions of the song, trying instead to bring out a different kind of mood, showcasing the strength of the song writing. All instruments are played by Christoffer, while Josephine Francis from Canada provides backup vocals. She and Christoffer met during her stay as an exchange student in Denmark in the spring, where they quickly bonded over their mutual love for music and Japanese food.
